weekend happenings

apparently two days of resting left me up for two days of out and abouting and now i'm wiped again. staycationing continues.

i definitely stayed out a bit too late friday night to feel good for the 7:00 am flanders coffee ride, but i went anyway. there were approximately one million people on that ride. definitely one of the biggest group rides i've been on. it was fun though. it was weird to be home by 9:30 with 55 miles already done.

spent the rest of the day at the lake banishing the tanlines that scream 'I'M AN ACTIVE GIRL!'. then out with g and folks for the evening.

sunday i got to spend the day with hollywood rambling in my ear, reffing the hopkins crit. got a little gruesome in the 1/2's race. condolences to those injured. working with Bruce on results is always a pleasure. the results were nearly perfect. it was a good day. (exception being audrey frye. i think you need to speak more clearly at registration.)

wrapped up last night with scrumptiousness at seasalt, a killer parking ticket, and the season premier of entourage. i was wiped from being in the sun, but it was a fun day.

today, more chillaxing on tap. lake time, here i come.

no thank you.

i think if I were ever to be in the leaders jersey at the tour of france or anywhere, really, i wouldn't like it.

it would unsettle me that i had to wear a jersey that didn't match my bibs. it's aesthetically unpleasing, like navy blue and black. strong rider cancellera may be, but who can take a man seriously who doesn't have a matching kit in competition?

no thank you.

i would also like to reject versus coverage of 'natural breaks.' i don't know that i've ever felt that awkward watching tv before.
something about seeing someone relieve themselves, especially without knowing you're watching, doesn't feel right. and please quit saying that...'natural break.'

double no thank you.

and FURTHERMORE...

i can't stand watching people put ketchup on hashbrowns. it's the worst. ketchup isn't for breakfast.

thursday

so i definitely have goosebumps after that stage finish. fun.

anyway. meant to go for a ride last night, but i got distracted by things and the next thing i knew i was drinking cocktails on the roof of solera and it was fantastic.

i got a random email this morning that lead me to this site that i used to use back in the (gasp) myspace days. these pics are so old and so much history has happened that it kind of makes looking at these pics sad....and not just because i had bangs.

so yeah. i woke up this morning tired. just an overall tired of everything feeling..and realized i have for awhile. and i then realized i was tired of feeling tired.

i decided i am going to spend an indeterminate number of days chillaxin, watching the tour, hanging with good peeps and all other things otherwise known as not working. not even i know when i will return. it's exciting.

i have a hair and massage appt later, which are basically two of my favorite things that have ever existed. very much looking forward to it. got my wheel sitch sorted on one bike, but something's up with the front shifter business, so i'll have to take it in early so i can get a good ride before heading out tonight.

moving on.

wednesday

reff'ed at the truck track, i mean stock yards, last night. it got a little bloody. the corners are tight and we had a few crashes going into the final stretch. otherwise uneventful.

tried to ride to work this morning, but for some reason i'm not able to keep a bike in functioning order right now and it's making me want to pull my hair out. so, i drove in and felt slovenly.

out of habit i found myself taking the same route in my car as i do when i'm riding, to the extent that i almost turned right on to the greenway...but i caught myself.

it's my neice's 6th birthday. i can't believe it. i remember when she was a big dark eyed adorable little alien baby fresh out of the egg that spit up on my face when i was playing with her. sigh. time flies.

happy 6th bday, bean!

i'm so proud to be your aunt! you're such an amazing little girl, so smart and very, very grown up.

old school pictures. you were so cute in your big girl dress visiting me in the city. i think you were about three years old. we had a grown up lunch and played with mom at the lake.

i love this picture of you. so precious.

and albert says happy birthday too! see you soon!

music pick of the week.

the real video is here. they're hot.

weekend recap

well.

it does kind of feel like a bit of a jip of a long weekend with the subpar weather that was friday and saturday. but here we are.

friday i rode out to chan to lay out with jannabird at lifetime. however. in a rare occurance of my staying out super late, i didn't get more than four hours of sleep thursday night/friday morning. my legs felt fine on the way out, but on the ride back from chan i felt like my body was melting into the ground in exhaustion. i did see dcleary, though, and that was fun. i think it's probably what got me home.

i can't really remember the rest of friday. but, then saturday i made my way to northfield. i was excited to do it as it's one of the only races i finished last year. without much training lately, i wasn't sure what i'd be able to do.

turns out, i sucked. spent a majority of the time in my head trying to figure out when/if i should quit. stupid. but. anyway.

sunday rode down to rosemount and back. it was good. i do need to get back into actual riding as opposed to just commuting. build up my pain tolerance a bit more. though, with the reffing schedule that was just released, i'll be reffing the next few events anyway.

other than that -- fine weekend. highlight was probably getting in some good time with the kiddies and sister 1..AND finally getting bro-in-law's annual summer music mix. it might be one of my favorites.
