kudos where kudos are due

i know i’ll probably get these details wrong, but hopefully i’m close.

i know most know already, but i found out earlier this summer (and meant to say something at the time) that our very own senor bruce brasaemle was chosen to participate in and complete the highly exclusive uci international commissary program in Switzerland (?) this fall. (i’m pretty sure he’s either there now or leaving soon…)

after passing a rigorous pre-selection exam, the chosen ones are brought in for the training, then complete an intense written and oral exam, followed by a practical exam.

passing these beasts qualifies them to officiate at fun things like the world championships, olympic games etc. i’m pretty sure I remembered hearing that there might be only one other person from mn ever selected.

bruce along with several other delightful chaps put a lot of effort into ensuring competitive racing in mn is possible, mainly for a love of the sport. basically, the guy’s a pro.

congrats on the honor, bruce and best wishes on the exam.

thanks for the pic, skib.

Thanks for the kind words and best wishes, Emily. I leave for Aigle, Switzerland on October 22. The course is 8 days long, starting on October 25. I'm honored, excited and just a little nervous about it (and currently taking a study break).

I may be the first Minnesotan to take the course, but most likely I won't be the last. Matt Moses is next in line and will probably go the next time it is offered.
